THE EFFECT OF LAMBS DIET SUPPLEMENTATION WITH COW COLOSTRUM AND COW COLOSTRUM PROTEIN CONCENTRATE ON SERUM IgG LEVEL AND BODY GAINS

چکیده
The study on availability of cow colostrum (C) and cow colostrum protein concentrate (CC) derived from membrane filtration was conducted on Olkuska breed lambs. The lambs were assigned to 4 groups receiving IgG addition in cow colostrum or colostrum concentrate: group I – control, group II – 7.49g IgG in 150 ml C, group III – 7.09 IgG in 125 ml CC, and group IV – 14.18 IgG in 250 ml CC. The lambs were fed directly after the birth. IgG concentration was significantly higher on the 2nd and 12th days of lambs life in the control group compared to group IV supplemented with an increased concentrate dose. The results point that an addition of cow colostrum concentrate obtained as a result of membrane filtration may strengthen lambs immune system, which may be of a special significance especially in case of multiple pregnancies.

α-Tocopherol and β-carotene concentrations in feed, colostrum, cow and calf serum in Swedish dairy herds with high or low calf mortality
BACKGROUND A study of herd-level risk factors for calf mortality in large Swedish dairy herds showed low serum concentrations of α-tocopherol and β-carotene in 1-7 day old calves to be more common in high mortality herds. Therefore, we aimed to investigate if calf mortality risk at herd level is associated with concentrations of α-tocopherol and/or β-carotene at individual level in feed, colost...
متن کاملThe dynamics of changeability of fatty acid profile in woman , cow and sow milk during lactation
Changes in fatty acid profile of woman, cow and sow colostrum and milk fat during lactation were investigated. Colostrum samples were taken 2 times: a few hours postpartum and then 2–3 days postpartum. Also, milk samples were collected 2 times. The first collection from each 3 investigated species took place in 2 week of lactation and the second collection – in 4, 6 and 3 month of lactation fro...
متن کاملPeroral administration of triiodothyronine (T3) affects absorption of immunolactoglobulins in calves.
On the basis of our studies which demonstrated that T3 is a natural milk-borne component of cow mammary secretions, this study investigated the influence of T3 (and thyroxine, T4) on the serum Ig level (used here as an indicator of intestinal absorption). Forty healthy calves were given a single dose of either T3 or T4 with the first colostrum meal 6 h following birth. Blood samples were taken ...

Lundborg, K. 2004. Housing, management and health in Swedish dairy calves. Doctor’s dissertation. ISSN 1401-6257, ISBN 91-576-6656-3 This thesis discusses the results of an observational study conducted in dairy herds in the south-western Sweden and a questionnaire survey of dairy herds done throughout Sweden. In the observational study the health of 3 081 heifer calves in 122 dairy herds was m...
متن کاملMilk production during the colostral period is not related to the later lactational performance in dairy cows.
In dairy cows, milk yield increases rapidly after parturition until a peak at around wk 6 of lactation. However, the description of the shape of the lactation curve is commonly based on weekly average milk yields. For a more detailed analysis of the milk production curve from the very beginning of lactation including the colostral period and the effect of colostrum yield on further lactational ...
